Before going
further, let us know the things you will need.
What you need would include: Mild laundry
detergents, antihistamines, hypoallergenic
soaps, creams or lotions, prescription ointment
and hydrocortisone creams.
Step #1 – Gently care for your skin
Itchiness is normal
when you have eczema but it is important that
you do not scratch your skin because of it. It
will not help instead it will only make matters
worst. You will only cause your body to release
more histamine, which will make your skin
itchier. As a result, you will have darker skin
and can cause your skin to crack and bleed.
Divert the attention of your brain into
something else or minimize your scratching if
you cannot stop it entirely. Make sure that your
nails are clean and cut short. When sleeping at
night, it would be a great idea if you wear
gloves to avoid unconscious scratching.
Step #2 – Keep tabs of all the food you eat
A diary that
contains the foods and beverages you eat and
drink within the day would be great. You will
easily point out what triggers and what
exacerbates this condition if you have a record
of the possible triggering factors. Once you
determine that there are certain foods or drinks
that cause the flare ups, you either remove them
from your diet or decrease your exposure to
them. Some of the foods that possibly cause
flare ups are as follows:
-
Milk
-
Coffee
-
Soybean
products
-
Wheat
-
Eggs
As you avoid
certain foods, you must make sure that your diet
is healthy that consists of green leafy
vegetables, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, salmon,
sunflower seeds and flaxseed oils. All of these
contain the essential fatty acids that you
really need.
Step #3 – Control the triggers
If you can, you
need to control your exposure to allergens or
irritants such as scratchy clothing, fragrances,
alcohol, active components in cosmetic products,
detergents and harsh soaps as well as control
your stress. It would be ideal for you to
utilize hypoallergenic materials and skin care
products such as body soaps and mild liquid
laundry agent. You also need to regularly wash
towels, beddings, linens and make it a habit
that your newly acquired clothes are properly
washed before you wear them.
Go for
proven natural remedies.
While over the counter medications and even
prescribed ones may help to some extent, most of
them only treat the symptoms of the eczema. You
will then realize that very soon all the rashes
flare up again and you will be looking for
methods on how to get rid of eczema once more.
Aside from only treating the symptoms, most of
these medicines may contain other harmful
chemicals that can harm your skin in the
process.
