There is a distinct difference between the 'fresh
natural' and the 'processed natural.' The fresh
natural did not undergo rigid processing in order to
be pure. It does not cost as much as the processed
one because there are no preservatives added to make
it last longer. Above all, you know the components
of the cream because you were the one who created
it. You do not need to worry about substances that
are included but were not stated in the product
label.
The plant where we will extract our own cream
and ointment will be Aloe Vera although there
are other plants out there where you can make it
as well. But, for the purpose of knowledge and a
guide, let us discuss how we are going to make
our own treatment cream with Aloe Vera.
1 - First, gather all you need:
• Aloe Vera plant (particularly the leaves): If
you have grown Aloe Vera on your background,
this is much better because it is still fresh.
• Lavender essential oil: You can buy this at
fragrance stalls and stores.
• Knife or peeler: You will use this to cut the
leaves.
• Cup: This is used to measure your extract.
• Bowl: This is where you will mix the
ingredients.
• Wooden spoon: You will use this for stirring.
• Tin with lid or an amber colored bottle: This
is where you will put your finished product
• Wax Paper: You will use this for sealing of
the bottle or tin.
2 - Preparation of the Aloe Vera extract
Get the upper portion of the Aloe Vera leaves
(the lower leaves are not ideal since they are
bitter). You would want your cream to be
fresher. Peel the leaf using a knife or a peeler
then extract as much gel as you can from it
until you can get 1/4 cup of Aloe Vera gel
extract.
3 - Place the 1/4 cup of extract into a bowl
then add the lavender essential oil. Four drops
of it will do.
4 - Mix the entire mixture with the wooden spoon
thoroughly until you are sure that the essential
oil and the extract makes one distinct sticky
substance.
5 - Place the mixture into the tin with lid or
the amber colored bottle then put the lid back
that is lined with the wax paper.
6 - Refrigerate the mixture and this can be used
ideally within four weeks.
You can use the cream, mixture or ointment,
whatever you call it, by gently massaging it
into the affected area.
